It’s interesting to note the common misconception that Lyme disease is something that is easily treated and that it’s a problem in a different region. Lyme disease is at epidemic levels in the United States and it’s becoming an increasingly serious issue in Central Virginia. Recently the CDC had to alter its statement of 30,000 cases of Lyme disease nationwide to 300,000. A tenfold increase. The most important issue with Lyme is our own ignorance about detection and treatment of the disease. Patients are often dismissed by doctors or misdiagnosed for a multitude of other diseases. We are now with Lyme where we were in the late 70s with HIV and AIDS. Additionally, the costs of treating Lyme have skyrocketed by over 26 times in the past years and can cost upwards of $10,000.
Mosquito Squad has compiled a four-page information sheet that will help you to increase your knowledge of this growing threat in our area. We have created this document to help empower our community against Lyme. Please contact us to receive this free information.
